1964 Dodge Polara 500 Many updates on this car done over many years. I remember most but may have forgot some. Sorry. Almost all the work was done by
me, but some done by other professional others.
The 440 CI engine was overhauled by Gary Meyers of Ely IA. Using all new parts. Low miles since rebuild. Fitted with a new intake and carb with a fuel pressure gauge. TTI headers, New distributer and plug wires. New voltage regulator and coil, water pump, hoses, trans cooler,
The 2 front seats were recovered by some one not in business any more. Rear seat is original 1964. Many updates through the years, a labor of love by owner.
Lets start at the front of the car. Suspension has been updated. New upper and lower A arms, New sway bar and strut bars, new power steering box, disc brakes with adjustable rear drum brakes with adjustable pressure valve aluminum radiator, 2 air deflectors, one on each side of the radiator, to
direct air directly into radiator. I fabricated the fan shroud,
It is made in 2 pieces. The top half comes off to pull the radiator and or fan off if needed.
All the wiring has been redone and updated through the car.
There is no wiring showing under the hood. Clean and nice.
The stock motor mount has been modified and a aluminum plate is bolted to the front of engine and the 2 front frame rails.
Now the oil pan can be removed without removing the engine.
The floor shifter does not use a cable to move shift plate. I fabracated a steel rod with heim linkage on each end. No slippage when shifting. The trans is a mopar that was rebuilt by Steve Harvey in waterloo Ia. Top notch mechanic…. The rear end is a new 373 with a new housing and parts installed. New drums and shoes. I designed the gauges through Auto Meter and they made them up for me. Looks old school.
There is still a lot of things I have left out, but you get the picture. The car will show itself. It is not perfect but is not a ten footer either. You will have to see it.
I have put a lot of time and money on this build, Iam asking $37,000 for the car and I have a lot of spare parts to go with it.I also have a 24 ft. pace trailer that goes with the car.
I am retired and I do not drive the car much any more due to health issues. I used the car to do some shows and a little drag racing. Not much. But it has never been on a trip out of Iowa.
It has very few miles on it. I never turned on the mileage meter on to keep track of it. There is a lot more to the car, but it will sell itself.
I’am not a computer jock so I do not do so good at it.
